GLUTEOPLASTY is a surgical procedure to lift or enhance the buttocks and increase their size, for a number of reasons:
– To improve the body contour of the woman, who presents her buttocks sagging or with very little volume and for personal reasons considers the size of the buttocks too small.
– To balance the size of the buttocks, when there is a significant difference between them.
– As a reconstructive technique in certain situations.
The shape and size of the buttocks prior to surgery can influence both the recommended treatment and the final result. If the buttocks are not the same size or shape before surgery, it is unlikely that they will be completely symmetrical afterwards.
There are several types of implants. However, silicone gel fillers have become the most used option since they have a firmer consistency, transmitting the same firmness to the buttock. The surface can be smooth, rough or textured, the latter being the one that has shown less tendency to capsular contracture. The round or oval shape, to selectively project some part of the buttocks. High or low profile and of different volume that makes the buttock look wider or narrower and in profile more or less projected.
There are studies that suggest drawbacks and risks of each of them. You should discuss with your Plastic Surgeon the most appropriate for your individual case.
Buttock augmentation is achieved by implanting a prosthesis behind the gluteal muscles.
The incisions are made so that the scars are as inconspicuous as possible, usually in the Sacro-Coxygeal groove. The method of implantation and the position of the prosthesis will depend on your preferences, your anatomy and the recommendation of your surgeon.

Although the patient must walk from the first day and taking into account that the first 45 days the patient must be standing or lying face down, she can resume physical activity 45 days after the surgery starting with walking the first 3 weeks, gentle jogging the next 3 weeks, after which, she will start a gentle and progressive physical reconditioning week by week. The return to work will depend on the activity performed and will have to keep the proportions with respect to the resumption of physical activity.
At least 5 postoperative massages (one daily) may be sufficient when only this procedure is performed.
The main cares for this procedure are that the patient will have to avoid getting the wounds wet, avoid sitting and lying on her back, so the only positions allowed are face down and standing, and that hygiene when bowel movements should be done from back to front during the first 20 days after the surgery. Physical activity could be resumed progressively after 3 months. You may sunbathe when the wound has completely healed and the bruising and swelling have disappeared, but not before 3 months.

The best candidate for gluteoplasty is someone who desires to enhance the size, shape, or projection of their buttocks, is in good overall health, has realistic expectations, and is looking to improve their overall body proportions.
You may start to see initial results from gluteoplasty within a few weeks as swelling subsides, but final results, including settling and shaping of the buttocks, typically become more apparent after about three to six months.
The results of gluteoplasty can be long-lasting, although individual experiences may vary based on factors such as weight fluctuations, aging, and lifestyle changes.
